YPF: Film Night

YPF is a friendly group for young people between the ages of 14 and 18 (school years 10-13).

We usually meet on Saturday nights at the church from 7:30pm to 10pm during normal school term times. Every third week we have a relaxed Friday evening drop in at the home of one of the leaders. We also go away as a group for the occasional weekend, and last year we spent a week together in Wales during the summer holidays. It was brilliant! Most weeks we run fun activities which can include, silly games and cooking and eating food. We also have talks, discussions and studies to try to understand the good news of the Bible and to see what that means for our everyday lives.

Most Sunday nights after the evening service, there is an opportunity for the YPF to get together informally at someone's house.

BIG WEEKEND 2019

BIG WEEKEND 2019

Welcome to the Big Weekend 2019 event page!

For those new to the Big Weekend, or have had such a jam packed year you’ve forgotten all that happened last February, the aim of our gathering is to be taught from God’s Word and share a time of fellowship, strengthening relationships and making new ones.

This year the theme of the weekend’s teaching is “Revolution”, speaking truth into a culture that is redefining sex, marriage, gender, and the very meaning of right and wrong. Our speakers Gareth Leaney, currently a secondary school teacher, previously a UCCF staff worker and then director of training at MOET, and Jamie Southcombe, minister in training at Grace Church Guildford, will be taking us through Biblical responses to the sexual revolution that is transforming our culture, and what the churches response should be. God willing this will be an encouraging time where we are reminded that Jesus calls us to what is better, and how we should best share the good news of the gospel with a culture that is rejecting Him.

Even with a jam-packed teaching programme, there will be the opportunity to share in times of fellowship - whether that be in the local village tea shop, a walk across the Kent countryside, or playing a game of table tennis!

The venue is the beautiful Otford Manor in Kent (home of Oak Hall holidays), costing the bargain price of £85 or, with an early bird discount, £80 if booked before the 8th December.

Details of how to pay for the weekend will be emailed to you once your booking form has been submitted. Please note that this is not an automatically generated email so please be patient.

Friends International Student Event

uni-of-surrey-1024x349.jpg

At Chertsey Street we run events for international students. We want to provide a very warm welcome and help you settle into life in Guildford and in the UK.

To help with this we partner with Friends International and the Globe Cafe at the University of Surrey to help run events that help you: find friends - international and local British people; find out about British culture (like Pancake Day, Christmas and Easter); enjoy visiting other parts of Britain (like the Isle of Wight, the surrey hills and other towns in the UK); improve your English with local people (like our Quest group); enjoy a meal with a local family and learn about the Christian faith.

These activities are open to all international students whether you identify with a particular religious background, or not. Our services are for all people, so whether you are a Christian looking for a church family, or someone who wants to just look and see, you can find your place with us at Chertsey Street.

We hope you will come back again and again, and we will have the chance to be an important part of your time in the UK.
